The bevy of state high school tournaments gets underway today with the boys and girls volleyball championships.
The Kaua‘i High School girls face Kalani at 6:30 p.m. at King Kekaulike High School Gymnasium on Maui.
Number one seeded Punahou awaits the winner of the Kaua‘i/Kalani match on Thursday in quarterfinal action at 6:30 p.m.
Along with number one seeded Punahou, the rest of the seeds are Kahuku (#2), Kamehameha Schools-Maui (#3), and Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i (#4).
Waiakea, Kamehameha Schools-O‘ahu, Aiea, Hilo, Moanalua, and Baldwin round out the tournament field.
Meanwhile, the Kaua‘i High School boys are on the Big Island to face Mililani at 5 p.m. at Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i Campus.
The winner of the Kaua‘i/Mililani match will take on number two seeded Waiakea on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
Punahou also has the top seed in the boys bracket, followed by Waiakea (#2), Kalaheo (#3), and Hana (#4).
Kohala, Nanakuli, Kahuku, Kealakehe, Kamehameha Schools-O‘ahu, and Moloka‘i round out the boys state tournament bracket.
The state high school bowling tournament is here on Kaua‘i at Lihu‘e Lanes and goes from Thursday, Nov. 11 through Friday, Nov. 12. The opening ceremony will start at 7:45 a.m., with the boys bowling first and the girls following at 2:45 p.m.
There will be six games on Thursday and three games on Friday with the awards ceremony to follow at around 2:45 p.m. on Friday. This year’s state tourney features a total of 100 boys and 100 girls.
The state high school football game is set for Friday, Nov. 19 at Vidinha Stadium. KIF champ, Kaua‘i High School will face MIL division II champ, Pac-3.
The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
