The Rams controlled the game from the start, as Mikey Blackstad got things going with a 4-yard TD run. Branden Scovel scored on a run for the PAT for a 7-0 lead. Steve Ledger’s fumble recovery TD put the Rams up 13-0 in the first. Ross Ozaki continued the scoring spree with a TD recovery off of a blocked punt. Then Northshore scored its only points of the contest, as Darren Taylor scampered 37 yards for the score. Kevin Cremer’s PAT run made the score 19-7 in favor of the Rams.
Blackstad then scored again on a 5-yard TD run and Torrey Santiago followed with a TD run of his own, this one a 34-yard sprint. It was all Wa‘alani Arroyo after that, as Kaulana marched 33 and 82 yards for 2 TD runs. Ozaki’s PAT run on Wa‘alani Arroyo’s first run made it 38-7.
Defensive standouts for Koloa included Keanu Palama, Brennan Worthman, Ozaki, Ledger, and Jacob Flores. Taylor, Cremer, Kaleo Lum, and Jonah Enrique contributed on defense for Northshore.
JPW: Koloa 20, Hanapepe 6
Down from the start, Koloa came back in a fury to nail home the “W.” Clifton Callejo’s 20-yard TD run for Hanapepe got things started. Isaac Tehero tackled Callejo in the endzone for the safety, which put Koloa on the board. Kalei Fujita of Koloa put his team up for good with a 13-yard TD run in the second. The Morris-Nix and Tehero show followed, with two TD connections, on 33 and 7 yard passes, which put Koloa up 20-6.
On the defensive side, Tehero, Joshua Flores, Chyson Goias, and Fujita led Koloa. Nohili Kahepu‘u, Mikeo Rita, Taven Rita, Kendall Kaohi, Chase Parongao, and Bryson Nacata led the Hanapepe charge.
Midgets: Koloa 10, Hanapepe 8
In this low scoring contest, Koloa outmuscled Hanapepe for the win. Hanapepe’s Allen-Michael Gaspar hooked up with Cole Parongao for an 85-yard TD. Cody Owen’s PAT gave Hanapepe the two points for an 8-0 lead. Koloa answered in the second, as quarterback Tyrus Ceria-Lux scored on an 11-yard TD scamper. Loren Duarte’s PAT put Koloa one point down. Then the big play in the fourth, with only 2:05 to happened, as Dawson Okinaka of Koloa nailed the game-winning FG.
Reggie Vigilia, Duarte, and Kawika Holi-Kunishige led Koloa on defense. Ronnel Constantino, Stetson Raposas, Justin Moriwake, and Michael Iida led Hanapepe on defense.
Midgets: Kekaha 28, Northshore 0
Kekaha dominated from start to finish, as Reyn Lazaro’s legs put the first two scores on the board on runs of 6 and 11. Bully Pancho’s kick made the tally 14-0 at the 3:30 mark in the first. Pancho then let his defensive prowess take over with a 23 yard interception TD. Kailan Malama ended the scoring for Kekaha on a 53 yard TD run. Pancho’s kick made the final, 28-0.
Joe Boy Enrique and Contrades led Northshore on defense. Pancho and Jay Watanabe led the Kekaha charge.
JPW: Kekaha 27, Northshore 0
The Kekaha Panthers roared in this one, as Alika Emayo got things going with a 1 yard TD run. Emayo hooked up with Austin Parina-Kenney for the PAT pass. Emayo connected with Paul Udarbe for a 32 yard TD which gave the Panthers a 14-0 lead going into the half. Emayo connected on his second PAT attempt. In the fourth, Kaimana Perreira-Alquiza juked his way to a 44 yard TD, as Emayo nailed another PAT. Emayo then scored on a 33 yard interception, which put the final tally at 27-0.
Northshore was led on defense by Ranson Camat, Jonathan Yam, Ka‘awa Solomon, Joe Bilyeu, Rajan Baliaris, Kaena Kuhaulua, Ricky Balajadia, and Joseph Borden. Tresen Lacaden-Bisarra, Austin Cun-Lara, Acetyn Emayo, Devan Banasihan-Kenney, and Errol Lanning led Kekaha.
JPW: Kapa‘a 6, Lihu‘e 0
Kapa‘a put pressure on Lihu‘e, as most of the action occurred between the 50 and 20 yard lines of the Kapa‘a Eagles. Hard running by Earl Thronas, Bretten Rapozo, and Bronson Aiwohi led the Eagles. Lihu‘e defenders kept Kapa‘a honest by stopping them on key plays. Defenders Travis Koga, Austin Oshiro, Beau Kohatsu, and others kept the Kapa‘a out of the endzone early.
The first half ended in a scoreless tie. The second half started with Kapa‘a taking the ball and moving it to the 50 yard line. The first score came at the start of the fourth quarter on a QB keeper, as Rapozo took the ball on a one yard run into the endzone. The game continued as a defensive struggle till the final horn. Lihu‘e made two attempts at the endzone, only to be stopped by the Eagles defense.
PW: Lihu‘e 32, Kapa‘a 0
The first score came on a seven yard run in the first, with 5:19 on the clock. Taren Tani of the Patriots scored. The extra point by Kalen Kimura of Lihu‘e was good and the score was Lihu‘e 8, Kapa‘a 0.
The second TD for the Pats came on a TD run by Tani with 58 ticks on the clock. The PAT by Kalen Kimura was good. Lihu‘e scored on a 20-yard run by Cameron Largusa. The PAT by Kimura was good again and the score was 24-0 in favor of the Pats. The third touchdown was by Canaan Bernard of Lihu‘e who went 5 yards for the score. Kimura made his fourth PAT of the game for the 32-0 lead. Lihu‘e is undefeated thus far, as they sit atop the Pee Wee division.
Midgets: Lihu‘e 40, Kapa‘a 14
The first score came with 8:05 in the first on a 54 yard run by Pono Matthews, who raced around the right side of the line for the score. Pono also kicked the PAT. Bryston Rapozo tossed to a wide open Ian Lactaotao for the answer. Lactaotao kicked the PAT to tie the score up at 8. Lihu‘e then scored on a one yard Matthew Koyama run. Matthews kicked another PAT to give Lihu‘e the 16-8 lead.
At the start of the second half, Koyama hooked up with Basil Walton for a 31 yard TD. Matthews connected with another PAT. In the fourth, Lihu‘e’s Donovan Refamonte scored from 15 yards out, as Matthews kicked another PAT for the 32-8 lead. Refamonte scored again with 5:03 to go on a 34 yard scamper. Matthews slammed the PAT kick through the uprights once again, for the 40-8 advantage. Kapa‘a’s Brandon Chong scored in the final seconds to make the final, 40-14.
