It was only fitting that the Kaua‘i High School boys and the Waimea High School girls finished off the KIF air riflery regular season with wins. The Kaua‘i girls and the Waimea boys were also victorious against Island School and Kapa‘a High School on Thursday.
The Waimea girls defeated Kapa‘a, 1162-983 and the Kaua‘i boys won a close one against Island School, 1100-1088.
The Kaua‘i girls also were challenged by the Island School crew, 1091-1037 and in another close match, the Waimea boys edged Kapa‘a, 1157-1025.
Kaua‘i’s top five shooters were Brandon Nakamoto (252), Dustin Russell (235), Kendall Kusaka (228), Marc Shibata (227), and Cody Navarro (221). On the girls side, Kaua‘i was paced by Casey Shimokawa (235), Charissa Riofta (230), Kaiulani Sheldon (227), Terra Bell (226), and Robyn Serquina (221). Island’s top boys shooters were Brian O’Brien (213), Rory Marsh (200), Erik Talvi (193), Carlos Maibeth-Mortimer (177), and Kevin Dhorne (165).
Kelsey Ritchie (230), Kelli-Rose Hooser (220), Blaise La Madrid-Nakamura (205), Michelle Woltmon (197), and Beatrice Wu (192) led the Island School girls.
Waimea girls were led by Sharla Shimono (243), Ashley Shimono (241), Mitzi Seto (232), Kelly Joyce (223), and Chantelle Briones (223). Brian Martin (255), Kori Sakahashi (231), Chris Aguilar (230), Tyren Sakuda (227), and Kyle Nakata (214) led the Menehune boys.
Kapa‘a boys were led by Reyn Mossman (229), Max Vandervort (206), Terrence Cuyo (205), Travis Toguchi (196), and Matthew Mizumoto (189). Crystal Dawson (211), Marie Joy Agacid (210), Gemmalyn Catbagan (192), Brittney Sutton (188), and Jenny Espina (188) led the Kapa‘a girls. The HHSAA girls and boys air riflery tournament will be held at the Blaisdell Center on November 2.
