What would Labor Day weekend be without some motorcross races? Well, that question doesn’t need an answer on Kaua‘i, as The Kaua‘i Motorcross Riders Association’s 50th Annual Labor Day Races kicked off at the Wailua Motorcross Track yesterday. On Saturday, races included 50cc Beginner, 50cc Advance, 65cc Beginner, 65cc Advance, 85cc Beginner, 85cc Advance, Mini Wahine, Wahine, 125 Novice, 250 Novice, Fast 50/10-15 Stock, Fast 50/10-15 Modified, Quads C, Quads D, Quads Wahine, and Quads Keiki.
With tents and vendors enjoying the great race weather, the riders tore up the track and gave the crowd their moneys worth.
Highlighting Saturday’s races was the mystery race called, Hare and Hounds.
What makes this race so unique is the fact that the location of this off-road race isn’t revealed to riders until the rider’s meeting, which was held on Friday evening.
Participants may choose “A,” “B,” or “C.” Classes within each trail include 0-200cc, 201-250cc, 251cc-Open. Veterans will use the “A” trail, masters for the “B” trail, and beginners for the “C” trail. The races will continue today at the Wailua Motorcross track, adjacent to the Wailua Golf Course.
