The upcoming football season will change for KIF teams. After a recent meeting, The Hawai’i High School Athletic Association’s executive board, consisting of school principals from all of the state’s leagues, voted 4-1 to adopt a proposal that leaves out KIF football teams from the Division one level. Instead, the KIF will just have one state berth in Division two.
“It’s a whole different level when a KIF team goes to the state tournament in the Division one level, as we just end up getting smashed by the schools that are bigger and much stronger,” KIF director James Kitamura said.
