LIHU‘E — The Aloha Festival Parade held Saturday capped a week of festivities on Kaua‘i.
Kuulei and Victor Punua served as grand marshals for the parade that ran along Rice Street.
The Aloha Festivals’ Royal Court for Kaua‘i was one of the highlighted facets of this year’s Aloha Festivals parade that traversed Rice Street from Ho‘olako Street, ending at the lawn of the historic county building for a day-long ho‘olaule‘a.
The Aloha Festival is a statewide event, funded in part by the sale of colorful ribbions.
The event is aimed at providing a traditional Hawaiian event for visitors and local residents through its cultural showcase. Events include a celebration of Hawai‘i’s music, dance and history and is intended to preserve the unique island traditions.
