KALAHEO — Kaua’i’s forray into the arena of coed basketball hit a few obstacles at the D.A.R.E. Hawai’i Spring Break Hoops Challenge as West Kaua’i ended the two-day tournament with a 0-3 record while East Kaua’i finished at 1-2.
West Kaua’i was victimized by the Kohala Colts 30-8 on the opening day and suffered 29-24 to Maui and 29-5 against Waiakeawaena in the second day of play while East Kaua’i roared onto the arena with a 21-17 overtime win against the Waiakeawaena Menehune on Sunday night with Jodi Das notching two OT field goals in the win.
However, the victory was deflated on Monday as East Kaua’i got trampled by the Kohala Colts 30-8, and eclipsed by the Maui Suns 22-7 in the nightcap.
