King Kaumuali’i Elementary School in Hanama’ulu has already sent home surveys asking parents of children currently at the school how they feel about the prospects of the school adopting a dress code (school T-shirts) or a modified school-year calendar.
But the School Community-Based Management (SCBM) Council is interested in hearing from members of the community (those who live near the school, parents of future students, etc.) about how they feel about the proposals.
The school community includes Hanama’ulu and Wailua Homesteads.
An example of a modified calendar reduces the summer break from 11 to eight weeks, creates a two-week October break, and adds one week to spring break.
Those interested in giving their opinion on this issue should call Tracy Murakami at 822-6980, or e-mail her at lglease@hotmail.com.
Parents of existing students who did not receive a survey sent home by the school through students should call the school, 241-3150.
