KAPA’A- High octane Kauai Interscholastic Federation prep volleyball action continues this afternoon as the Waimea Menehunes travel to the Bernice Hundley Gym to take on the Warriors in their home opener.
Action is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with the following slated sequence of games: girls junior varsity, boys junior varsity, boys varsity, and girls varsity contests.
SHORT GAME NOTES: Waimea took 3 of 4 matches from the Kauai Red Raiders earlier this week in season opening play as the Menehune girls j.v., and boys and girls varsity squads emerged victorious.
Due to the competitive nature of Wednesdays matches, the girls varsity contest didn’t end until after 10 p.m.
In the girls varsity opener, Menehune outside hitter Britnee Boeder led all hitters with a game-high 11 kills while freshman Kehau Silva topped the Raiders with 8 put-aways. The Waimea front row defense rose to record 5 blocks, which included 2 in the decisive 17-15 second set. Both squads combined for 15 service aces but additionally committed 18 unforced serving errors.
