Takashi Fujimoto of Koloa, Kauai, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 12, 2002 at the age of 78.
Born in Koloa, Kauai on Oct. 11, 1923, he was a body and fender repairman at Lihue Motors Co.
He is survived by wife, Fusae; son, Clayton Fujimoto of Koloa, Kauai; three daughters, Sandra (Eric) Kawasugi of Oahu, Lynette (Albert) Muranaka of Lihue, Kauai and Denise Forsen of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; five grandchildren; Brandon Kapahu; Gavin Muranaka, Allyn Muranaka, Cole Forsen & Cale Forsen; brother, Robert (Mildred) Fujimoto of Hawaii; two sisters, Elaine Uchima and Gail (Walter) Kawano both of Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Koloa Missionary Church; service officiated by Pastor Niles Kageyama will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Sumiyo Matoba
Sumiyo “Ruth” Matoba of Kaua’i, died Aug. 20, 2002, at the age of 84.
Born July 26, 1918, in Lihu’e, she was a retired cook.
She is survived by sons, Donald Awakuni of California, Robert (Faith) Matoba of Honolulu, Larry (Judy) Matoba of Honolulu; daughters, Myrna Oshima of Kauai, Jan Matsuda of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, Yukio Nishimura of Honolulu, Yutaka Haitsuka of California, Hisamitsu Haitsuka of California, Sueji Haitsuka of California; sisters, Miyoko Min and Yoshiko Imanaka, both of Honolulu, and Kimiyo Navarro of Kauai.
A memorial service was held Sept. 7 at Hanapepe Church of the Nazarene.
Arrangements were handled by Nuuanu Mortuary.
