KAUAI RACEWAY – The Garden Isle Racing Association held its third race of the 2002 season May 5th at Kauai Raceway Park. Jim Rosa won the NHRA National Dragster Championship driving his 1968 big-block powered Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by Manny’s Repair.
Walter Barnes won first place in Super Street ET driving the Real-Net Advertising sponsored 1994 Ford Mustang GT, followed in second place by Orlando Viloria in his 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda sponsored by Guide Performance.
Twelve year old Calvin Costa, sponsored by D&W Services, won first place in Jr ET competition. Wayne Paragga Jr., age 11, finished second.
In competition for Pro ET cars, Jim Rosa placed first in his 68 Camaro sponsored by Manny’s Repair and Rupert Nation driving Doug Gould’s 1967 427 big block Camaro finished second.
GIRA’s next race will be held Sunday, June 9th.
