Cresencio “Ching” Alalem of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died March 28, 2002, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital atthe age of 61.
A security guard with Freeman’s Guard, he was born Jan. 27. 1941, in Lihu’e, Kaua’i.
He is survived by two brothers: Joseph (Andi) Alalem of Washington and Timothy (Jan) Alalem of Kapa’a; two sisters: Consuelo (Simeon) Carinio of Kapa’a and Dolly Kama of Kekaha; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services to be celebrated at 7 p.m. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to be held at a later date.
The family suggests casual attire and asks that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.

Alipio M. Alvarado Sr. of Kaumakani, Kauai died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Mar. 29, 2002 at the age of 87.
Born in Pangasinan, Philippines on Sept. 5, 1914, he was a retired irrigator with Olokele Sugar Co.
He is survived by sons, Alipio Jr. (Nadine) of Kalaheo, Kauai, Romeo (Benita) of Honolulu, Oahu, Honorato (Jocelyn) of Waipahu, Oahu, Nolan (Zelda) of Makiki, Oahu and Norvin of Wailua, Kauai; daughters, Feme Alvarado of Kapolei, Oahu and Donna Fernandez of Lihue, Kauai; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Virginia Alvarado of Philippines; brother-in-law, Sofronio Alvarado of Kaumakani, Kauai; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 6 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 5, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation also at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 6, at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eleele; funeral service officiated by Father Quintero and Father Cannel will begin at 9 a.m. Followed by burial at the Hanapepe Filipino Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church or American Cancer Society.
