Jay Gatiuan
Jay Michael Gatiuan of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 8, 2002, at the age of 31.
Born in Kaunakakai, Molokai on Jan. 18, 1971, he was a Golf Course Groundskeeper with Princeville Corp.
He is survived by his fiancee, Jay-Dee Luczon; parents, Jose and Josie Gatiuan; brother, Gary S. (Ivy Castillo) Gatiuan of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; sisters, Deborah (Robert) Carter of Oklahoma City, OK., and Sharon (Thomas) McDonough of Washington, MO; niece, Kimberly McDonough, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass officiated by Father Coyle will begin at 12 noon. followed by burial at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Juan Claridad
Juan Sebastian Claridad of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Mememorial Hospital on Feb. 8, 2002, at the age of 96.
Born in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on Feb. 14, 1905, he was a retired Herbicide Supervisor with Lihu’e Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolina (Manuel Mapue) Cacatian-Mapue of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i; sisters, Caridad Claridad Cabasa of Las Vegas, NV., and Basila Corrales; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Followed by burial at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Miguel Marcelino
Miguel Jose Marcelino of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at his residence in Kapa’a, on Feb. 12, 2002, at the age of 87.
Born in the Philippines, on July 5, 1913, he was a laborer for Holmes and Narvar.
He is survived by his wife: Erlinda Butac Marcelino of Kapa’a, one son: Ferdinand “Fredie” (Gliceria “Glacy”) Marcelino of Hanama’ulu, 2 grand-children.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Feb. 21, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa’a, from 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kilauea Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Helen Stauber
Helen Magdalene Stauber, 89, of College Place, Wash. died February 2, 2002 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla, WA. She formerly resided in Oma’o, Kaua’i. Mrs. Stauber was born on Dec. 13, 1912 in Hungary.
Survivors include daughter Kathleen (James Kimo) Ahia, Jr. of College Place, WA; five grandchildren; Debra (Russ) Santiago of ‘Ele’ele, Hawai’i; James K. Ahia, III of Dallas, Texas; Kris Costa, Kim (Chuck) Turner, and Paul Binder of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; plus 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
A private family remembrance will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the Salvation Army through Professional Funeral Directors, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362.
