Frank Napoleon
Frank Alexander Napoleon of Kapa’a died Jan. 18, 2002, at the age of 74.
A retired mason with Local One, he was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Lihu’e, HI.
He is survived by his wife: Myrtle C. Napoleon; children: Lester Contrades of Lihu’e, Healani (Lovey) Harper of Wailua, Frank P. (Jennifer) Napoleon of Oregon, Napela K. (Beverly) Napoleon of Waipouli; brother Benjamin (Mary) Napoleon Sr. of Waipouli and sister Alice (Ben) Iida of Lihu’e; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Lihu’e First Hawaiian Church with service from 10 a.m.to 11 a.m.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and suggests casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Gerald Overlade
Gerald “Pops” Overlade, 90 years old, of Kapa’a, Hawai’i, died on Jan. 20, 2002.
Born on May 9, 1911 in Provo Utah. He worked in Shipyards in San Pedro, during W.W.II. His occupation was a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret Overlade, of Wailua Homesteads; three daughters: Barbara (Al) Buonassissi, of Quartz Hill, CA; Linda (Vil) Marga of Lancaster, CA; Carol (Jack) Larkins of Wailua Homesteads. 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Ashes will be scattered by the family at a later date. Bedside prayers were given by Troy Waialeale.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Matsu Kumabe
Matsu Eleanor Kumabe, 95 of Kaua’i, died in Honolulu, on Jan. 9, 2002.
A retires school teacher, she taught at ‘Ele’ele Elementary School for 40 years.
She is survived by her brothers, Bunki and Toshio Kumabe; sister Martha Kumabe, many nieces and nephews.
Kaua’i services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at Hanapepe United Church of Christ. On O’ahu, services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10:30 a.m. at Ordenstein’s Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Inurnment held 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha attire welcome.

Doris Uyeda
Doris Tokiko Uyeda of Lawai, Kaua’i, died Jan. 17, 2002, at Straub Clinic & Hospital at the age of 64.
A retired Kaua’i Police Department dispatcher, she was born March 7, 1937, on Kaua’i.
She is survived by son, Aaron (Lori) Uyeda of Kaua’i; brothers, Toki (Nancy) Koga of Kaua’i and Henry “Hank” (Ginger) Koga of Monterey Park, Calif.; sisters, Kiyoko “Kay” (Larry) Shimokawa, Yoshiko (Toshio) Okiura, and Helen Oyama, all of Kaua’i; grandsons, Shannon and Shawn Uyeda.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Lihu’e Missionary Church, with service at 10 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and asks that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
