Rose Coots
Rose Marie Coots of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Dec. 13, 2001 at the age of 86.
Born in California on Aug. 4, 1915, she was a Field Director with the American Lung Association.
She is preceded in death by her husband William Coots and her two brothers Zeke and Vic Rossotti. She is survived by her daughter: Martha Espiritu of Lihu’e; one son: John Coots of California; two sisters: Kay Jensen of California, Norma Gleason of California; three granddaughters: Leah (Brad) Akana; Ashley Espiritu; Nicole Coots; two grandsons: Michael Coots and Ryan Espiritu; nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia. Mass will be celebrated by Father Paul at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Richard Ditmars
Richard Ditmars of Koloa, Kaua’i, died on Dec. 10, 2001, in Kaua’i at the age of 72.
Born in Arizona on Feb. 18, 1929 and a long time resident of Santa Cruz, Calif., he moved to Kaua’i in 1997 to enjoy his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 49 years, Beatrice, son Rich Ditmars of Koloa, Kaua’i, daughter: Teresa Williams of Aptos, Calif., and son Eric Ditmars of Corralitos, Calif..
Family and friends memorial service to be held privately.
Alfred Juarez
Alfred Thomas Juarez of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died on Dec. 5, 2001, at the age of 69.
Born in Kunawai Lane, on Nov. 11, 1932, he was a Junior Engineer.
He is survived by his brother: John Thomas of Kapa’a and two sisters: Alberta Johnson of Pennsylvania and Heleene Nail of Tennessee.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Dec. 17, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. by Father Bruce. Burial to follow at Kapa’a Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Maximo Villanida
Maximo Cortez Villanida of Kane’ohe, Oahu, died on Dec. 10, 2001 at Kaua’i Veterans Hospital at the age of 74.
Born in Kapahi, Hawai’i, on March 4, 1927, he worked for Grove Farm and retired as an Air Craft Fuel Operator at Hickam Airforce Base in Honolulu.
He is survived by his wife, Parmalee Villanida of Kane’ohe; two daughters: Dawn Villanida of Kane’ohe and Elsbeth Villanida of Kane’ohe; one son: Wade Villanida of Kane’ohe; four sisters: Felipa Esteban of Hanama’ulu; Philomena Peralta of Kekaha; Erinia Fegaroa of Kapa’a, Terry (Joe) Reyes of ‘Ele’ele; one brother: Johnson (Sharon) Villanida of Kalaheo; one adopted daughter: Brenda (Stuart) Brun of Wailua; 2 grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Dec. 17, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Prayer services at 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at O’ahu, for graveside services at Hawai’i Veterans Cemetery in Kane’ohe at 1 p.m. Aloha attire is suggested and flowers to be omitted.
