Hisao ‘Sparky’ Kyono
Hisao “Sparky” Kyono of Kalaheo, died at home on Oct. 21, 2001, at the age of 71.
Born in New Mill, Kaua’i, on Aug. 3, 1930, he was a retired Meat Inspector with the Dept. of Agriculture.
He is survived by his wife: Jean Kyono of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; three sons: Steven (Kathie) Kyono of Lawa’i, Kaua’i; Russell (Tisha) Kyono of Lawa’i, Kaua’i; Glen (Suzie) Kyono of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; one daughter: Lynnette (Kenny) Meatoga of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; one brother: Charles (Peggy) Ishii of Honolulu, O’ahu; one sister: Takiko (Paul) Miyake of Honolulu, O’ahu; 6 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Kalaheo Missionary Church. Visitation is at 4:30 p.m. Service officiated by Rev. Butch Kahawai will begin at 5:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Ceferino Ballesteros
Ceferino “Cefrin” Ballesteros of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at home on Oct. 8, 2001 at the age of 56.
Born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 26, 1945. He was a Gardener with National Tropical Botanical Gardens.
He is survived by his wife: Cristina Ballesteros of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; son: Joseph (Carol) Ballesteros of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; daughter: Jane (Greg) Cubangbang of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; parents: Antonio & Lorenza Ballesteros; two brothers: Luciano (Lourdes) Ballesteros; Virgilio (Ailyn) Ballesteros both of the Philippines; three sisters: Clarita (Nerlito) Balicoco of Philippines; Ellen Ballesteros of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i; Tina (Perlito) Ruiz of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i; two grandchildren, Ian and Jaffia, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Oct. 25, 6 p.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Service officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation also at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct . 26 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, mass officiated by Father Paul will begin at 10 a.m. Followed by burial at the Lihu’e Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Thomas Rodrigues Jr.
Thomas Melendres Rodrigues Jr. of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, died in Honolulu, HI, on Oct. 15, 2001, at the age of 47.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on Nov. 19, 1953, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1974 and was a truck driver for Kaua’i Commercial.
He is survived by one daughter: Lahela Jean Rodrigues of O’ahu; one son: Scott Rodrigues of O’ahu; father: Thomas Rodrigues Sr.; mother: Maryann Rivera Rodrigues, both of ‘Ele’ele; two sisters: Rena (Patrick) Agoto of Pakala; Kelley Rodrigues of Seattle, Wash.; one brother: William (Billy) Rodrigues of ‘Ele’ele; two nieces: Bobilee Agoto of Ft. Eustis, Va., and Delcie Agoto of Vancouver, Wash.
He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and by his wife Gayle Jacinto Rodrigues.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Oct. 26, at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in ‘Ele’ele from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Mass will begin at 11 a.m., burial to follow at Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested.
