Kalehua Diane Martindale of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died Aug. 16, 2001, at home at the age of 51.
Born on Aug. 14, 1950, in Greenfield, Mass., she lived in New England until moving to Hawai’i in 1982.
Kalehua was proprietor of Lomi Kilohana, Therapeutic Massage. She studied many forms of massage, committing herself to providing a quality service.
A dancer and singer throughout her life, she became a devoted practitioner of Hawaiian music and dance. For years she was an active member of Halau Ka ‘Imi Na’auao O Hawai’i Nei under the direction of Kumu Hula Rosell Keli’ihonipua Bailey. In 1994, Kalehua joined Halau Pua Ali’i Ilima to study with Kumu Hula Victoria Hanaka’ulani Holt Takamine.
She is survived by her Kaua’i family, Jane and Aiyanna Sezak and Tim Rysdale of Kapa’a; two brothers, Spafford Martindale of Wendell, NC and Bruce Martindale of Madison, NH; three sisters, Karen Kodys of Jefferson, Ma., Susan Wall of Goffstown, NH and Paula Jaworski of Casper, Wyoming; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at ‘Anini Beach Park on Friday, Aug. 24. The gathering will begin at 4 p.m. with the celebration to start at 5:30 p.m. There will be a potluck sharing to follow. Friends should bring beach chairs.

Gaudencia Ramos
Gaudencia Corpuz Ramos of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, died Aug, 19, 2001 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 54.
Born on Aug. 31, 1946, in the Philippines, she was a cashier.
She is survived by her husband: Francisco Ramos of Kaumakani; one son: Franklin Ramos of California; one daughter: Francia Ramos of the Philippines; three sisters: Erlinda (Abe) Frando of Philippines, Tessie (Gerry) Sorio of Canada, Gloria (Nilo) Bunao of Vancouver; three brothers: Renato (Ligaya) Corpuz of Canada; Bonifacio (Letty) Corpuz of Philippines; Alfredo (Cresing) Corpuz of Philippines, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Aug. 24, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Visitation are again scheduled on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 8 a.m. Services to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hanapepe Filipino Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
