Louis Galaza of Kekaha, Kaua’i, died at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital on June 7, 2001, at the age of 88.
Born in Kukuiula, Kaua’i, on Sept. 1, 1912, he was a retired truck driver with Kekaha Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by two sons: Louis (Leslie) Galaza Jr. of Aurora, Calif. and Elliott (Marsha) Galaza of Lawai, Kaua’i; four sisters: Emily, Hilda, and Bella Mendez, all of O’ahu, and Frances of San Francisco; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at St. Theresa’s Church; Mass officiated by Fr. Larry will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers should be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Myrtle Kidani
Myrtle T. Kidani, of Honolulu, O’ahu, died June 1, 2001, at Hilo Medical Center, at the age of 69.
Born in Koloa, Kaua’i, she was a retired telephone operator for the Hawaiian Telephone Co. and a member of the Tamagusuku Son Jin Kai.
She is survived by her daughter, Darcie (Doug) Knight of Pahoa, Hawai’i; one grandson; brothers, Theodore (Yoshiko) Mitsumori of Kaneohe, O’ahu, Masaki (Violet) Mitsumori of Honolulu and Robert (Emiko) Mitsumori of Richmond, Calif.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. on Saturday June 16, at Hosoi Gaarden Mortuary; memorial service at noon. Inurnment to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery at 2 p.m. Aloha attire is suggested.

Shizuo Watanabe
Shizuo Watanabe of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at home on June 7, 2001, at the age of 79.
Born on Oct. 14, 1921, in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, he was a retired plumber with Grove Farm Sugar.
He is survived by two brothers: Kaoru Watanabe of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and Charles (Barbara) Watanabe of Woodland Hills, Calif.; two sisters: Hanako (George) Mori of Puhi, Kaua’i and Yuriko (Shige) Miyasato of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private services were held. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
