Thomas “Tommy” “Shoji” Nakamura of Kalaheo died at Kuakini Hospital on June 3, 2001, at the age of 59.
Born in Hanapepe, Kaua’i, on July 27, 1941, he was a recreation assistant with the County of Kua’i.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Nakamura of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; one son, Chris (Kristle Pongasi) Nakamura of Wailua; six daughters: Terry (Paul) Kuribayashi of Koloa, Kaua’i, Wendy Nakamura of Ewa, O’ahu, Donrien (Kimo) Doria of Kona, Big Island, Karene (Miles) Kawamoto of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and Kristie-Lyn (Darien) Nonaka of Hanapepe, Kaua’i and Shelene Fuji of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; 16 grandchildren; one brother: Mamoru (Shirley) Nakamura and Miyoko (Edward) Hashimoto, both of Honolulu, O’ahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. Friday June 8, at Garden Island Mortuary. Service will be held at 5 p.m. officiated by Pastor Niles Kageyama.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
