Rodney Bacio
Services will be held Saturday, May 12, for Rodney “Boy” Bacio of Torrance, California, who died Oct. 29, 2000. Born in Pakala on October 21, 1945, he is survived by his wife Charlene and sons Brandon and Justin of Torrence, Calif. and Patrick (Amy) of Denton, Texas. He is also survived by his father, Isidoro Bacio of Pakala and his brothers Pedro (Amancha) of Waimea, Kaua’i, Fredrick (Momi) and Kurt of Pakala; sisters Josephine (Paul) Brede of Anahola, Annette (Burt) Moriguchi of Kailua, O’ahu, and Geraldine (Bill) Salisbury of Honolulu.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. After a short service, his ashes will be scattered in the ocean fronting his dad’s home in Pakala where he grew up as a child.
Alfred Augusto
Alfred Louis Augusto of Kapa’a died recently at the age of 42. He was born in California.
A memorial Mass for family and friends will be held on May 10, at 4 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa’a.
Masato Uyeno
Masato “Mac” Uyeno, of Waimea, Kaua’i, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on May 7, 2001, at the age of 91.
Born in Waialua, O’ahu on Oct. 11, 1909, he was a retired Lifeguard with the County of Kauai.
He is survived by: three sons: Herbert (Jesse) Uyeno of Torrance, Calif., Wataru (Evelyn) Uyeno of West Minister, Calif.; and James Uyeno of Waimea, Kaua’i; two daughters: Kathleen (Scot) Kubota and Maye (Harold) Hirayama, both of Aiea, Oahu; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister: Jane (Alfred) Char of Honolulu, O’ahu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. on Friday May 11, at the Waimea Shingon Mission; service officiated by Rev. Sumitoshi Sakamoto will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Mitsuo Furumoto
Mitsuo “Mits” Furumoto of Kealia, Kauai, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on May 2, 2001, at the age of 76.
Born in Kealia, Kauai on June 25, 1924, he was a retired Plumber with Rayteon Construction Co. in Kwajalein/
He is survived by: one brother: Sueo (Bea) Furumoto of Kealia, Kauai; three sisters: Shinako (Tadao) Nishio of Kapaa, Kauai, Momoyo Kasaoka of Honolulu, O’ahu, and Sadako Fujiuchi of Kealia, Kauai; one hanai son: Vernon Rodriguez of Honolulu, O’ahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Rev. Fujimori will begin at 10 a.m. followed by interment at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
