Starting tomorrow, the Kaua`i County Council will be doing its legislating on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays.
The 1 p.m. meeting will include a discussion of transferring $100,000 from the collective bargaining raises account of the general fund, starts at 1 p.m.
The funds transfer, requested by Councilman Ron Kouchi, would shift $90,000 to the county’s Planning Department for studies concerning implementation of the recently completed General Plan update and the upcoming Ag CZO update.
The remaining $10,000 would go into legislative lobbying.
The council is also scheduled to hear a presentation from Ernest Y.W. Lau, manager and chief engineer of the county’s Water Department. Lau will give an update on the department’s long-range planning, Water Plan 2020.
Council meetings were shifted to Wednesday a few years ago to accommodate media deadlines, according to Kouchi. Thursday meetings will give the council and those appearing before the body an extra day to prepare their business, he said.
