He is survived by his wife: Jesusa Calipjo Yu
of Kaua’i; two daughters: Cheryll IManuel) Calipjo-Agtarap and Lilian (Edgar)
Calipjo-Curammeng of Kaua’i; three sons: Elesther (Milagrose) Calipjo of
Kaua’i, Lisel (Melita) Calipjo of the Philippines; and Wang Yun Zhi (Yan Ling
Zhu) of China; 14 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 6, at Borthwick/Kaua’i
Mortuary Chapel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services at 7 p.m. Visitation is again
scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 9
a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kalapaki Bay
Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by
Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.

Dianna Lynn
Gayagas of Seattle, Wash., and formerly of Kaua’i, died Sept. 22, 2000, at home
at the age of 46.
Born in Oakland, she lived on Kaua’i until moving to
Seattle, where she lived with her fiancé, Thomas Garcia, formerly of
Kapa’a.
She is survived by her mother, Barbara A. Curtis of Pollock Pines,
Calif.; daughter, Chantelle Gayagas; two grandsons, Cyrus Smith and Channing
Smith, all of San Diego; one brother Don McComb and sister Dana Yoshida, both
of Oakland, Calif.

Ventura Renti Cruz Sr. of Kekaha, Kauai, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial
Hospital on Sept. 24, 2000, at the age of 85.
Born in Urdanea,
Pangasinan, Philippines on Dec. 21, 1914, he was a retired truck driver with
Kekaha Sugar Plantation. He was former ILWU president, former president and
advisor to the Kekaha Filipino Club, former advisor to the Kekaha Filipino
Women’s Club, and co-founder of the Kekaha Mutual Aid Fund Society.
He is
survived by: his wife: Magdalena Renti Cruz of Kekaha, Kauai; two sons:
Prudencio (Helene) Renti Cruz Jr., of Pearl City, O’ahu and Johnathan (Noelle)
Renti Cruz of Kekaha, Kauai; three daughters: Jaqueline (James Sr.)
Duvauchelle of Moanaloa, Molokai, Darolyn Flores of Kekaha, Kaua’i, Genoveva
Renti Cruz of Kekaha, Kaua’i; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two
sisters: Anai Villacorta of Philippines, Genoveva Sumalbag of Carson City,
Calif., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the
family at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in
Kekaha; Mass to begin at 3 p.m. Followed by burial at the Kekaha Public
Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
