NAWILIWILI — Three more races
remain in the “Spring Saturday Showdown” hosted by the Nawiliwili Yacht Club
before the races from Nawiliwili to Hanalei over the Memorial Day
weekend.
The fifth race of the Saturday series was held on April 29
featuring two monohulls, a multi-hull, and four sport cats working the
5.75-mile course laid out over 3 laps under 10-15 knot
tradewinds.
“Windspan,” a 38-foot Catalina took the Monohull class with
“Malihini,” a 35-foot Catamaran topping the Open Class.
The team of
Bambery/Jones and Perry Cowan battled for supremacy in the 2-heat Sport Class
division with a protest being lodged following the first heat.
Saturday,
May 6 will be the sixth race in the series with a 3 p.m. notification and a
3:10 start time at Nawiliwili Harbor.
Following the Memorial Day Nawiliwili
to Hanalei races, a 12-race summer series will begin on June 10 at Nawiliwili
Harbor.
