Wilfred Kaimi Kaui Sr. of Anahola, Kaua’i, died on Dec. 29, 2000 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Keahapana, Kaua’i, on July 27, 1928, he was the owner of KMF Security Guard Service.
He is survived by his wife: Itsue Kawaguchi Kaui of Anahola; five daughters: Sheila (Blaine) Davis of Wailua; Cynthia (William) Rapozo of Wailua; Carolyn Kaui of Kihei, Maui; Corinne (Martin) Curnan of Keahapana; Claire Kaui of Mililani, Oahu; six sons: Wilfred (Eldeen) Kaui Jr. of Keahapana; Kent (Margarite) Kaui of Kapa’a; Wesley (Trinette) Kaui of Wailua; Clyde (Darlene) Kaui of Hanama’ulu; Steven (Tamlyn) Kaui of Wailua; and Keith (Elizabeth) Kaui of Virginia; one brother: Chang Kaui of Hanama’ulu; four sisters: Elsie (Francis) Pahia of Anahola; Sarah Bertelman of South Carolina; Bessie Laster of California and Thelma Kaui of Anahola; 28 grand children, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation are scheduled for Friday, January 12, 2001, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lihu’e, from 9 a.m. Services to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. The family suggest casual attire.

Jody “Joe” Johnston
Jody “Joe” Johnston of Kaua’i and Leilani Estates, died on Dec. 26, 2000 at home at the age of 47. Owner/Cowboy of Tumble T. Ranch of Princeville, Kaua’i and Construction Driver for Heally Tibbets Construction Co., he was born on Feb. 11, 1953, in La Junta, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife: Debra Napolis Johnston of Leilani Estates, brother: Jon Johnston of San Diego; mother-in-law: Henrietta Napolis of Hanalei, Kaua’i, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 at Black Pot Beach Park at Hanalei, Kaua’i, from noon. Ashes to be scattered at sea at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home.
Philomena C. Sevilla
Philomena “Minnie” Caminos Sevilla of Kapa’a, died Dec. 29, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. A forelady with the pineapple industry at Hawaiian Fruit Packers, she was born March 17, 1920, in Kilauea, Kaua’i.
She is survived by one daughter: Laverne (Tim) Gjellstad of Tennessee; four hanai children: Christopher (Amy) Caminos of O’ahu, Ricardo Caminos and Catherine (Steve) Potts, both of Washington; Christina Cruse of Wailua; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters: Oliva Punzal of Kapa’a, Irinea Nacar, Pacita (Julio) Tolentino, and Connie Durano, all of O’ahu, Minnie (Skip) Gray of Washington, and Lucy Castellucci of Florida; four brothers: Alberto (Ellen Ruth) Caminos of California, Joe (Naty) Caminos of Anahola, Guernaldo (Mary Lou) Caminos and Augie Caminos, both of O’ahu, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa’a from noon. Services to be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire is suggested.

Joaquin “Joe” Brass
Joaquin “Joe” Brass, died on Nov. 12, at Waimea Veterans’ Hospital, at the age of 86.
He was a Salinas High School graduate and served in the U.S.. Merchant Marines during World War II. Born on Sept. 26, 1914 in Santa Cruz, California then resided in Monterery County for nearly 43 years before moving to Kaua’i.
An entrepreneur, he owned and managed several restaurants on the Peninsula including 17-Mile Drive Coffee Shop, the Yak-N-Snak and one at Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Links. Until his passing, he worked at the Kaua’i Humane Society. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by one son: Jay Brass Jr. of San Diego and one grandson.
His ashes were scattered at sea by his family and close friends.
Maria Sabado
Maria Cardona Sabado of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, died at Waimea Care Center on Dec. 30, 1999, at the age of 94. She was born May 10, 1905, in Isabella, Gagayan, Philippines.
Mrs. Sabado is survived by one son: Robert (Victoria) Aquiat of Honolulu, O’ahu; one daughter: Felisa (Paulo) Ramelb of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, one brother: Rosendo Bolosan of Waimea; one sister: Aquilina (Richard) Madriaga of Honolulu, O’ahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Jan. 8, 2000, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral Mass officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Hanapepe public cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
