LIHUE — The County of Kauai Department of Motor Vehicles resumed processing driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registrations, following a network issue that shut down the services Wednesday morning.
It appears the issue was related to a network upgrade. IT specialists had the problem resolved at around noon and Kauai DMV was able to resume services.
“County DMV services are hosted by the City and County of Honolulu via the state’s network,” said Information Technology Manager Brandon Raines. “Our IT specialists were in communication with our counterparts at the state and city, and worked diligently to get the systems back up and running.”
This issue did not affect the public’s ability to pay for handicap placards, bike registration, real property taxes, and sewer or refuse collection.
