LIHUE — The Lihue Business Association is hosting a free panel discussion on the benefits of driving electric vehicles at Duke’s Canoe Club from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Jan. 27.
The “Why Drive Electric” panel will discuss the benefits and risks for the owner of electric vehicles, the implications for the overall impact on Kauai and the environmental health of our planet.
Last month, about 5,000 electric vehicles were on Hawaii roads, and LBA said many people believe that as batteries and overall technology improve, electric vehicles are our green energy, ground transportation future.
The panel consists of Goran Rad, co-founder, Kauai Electric Vehicle Alliance; Ben Sullivan, energy/sustainability manager for Kauai County; Gordon Talbo, professor of automotive technology at Kauai Community College; and Jan TenBruggencate, Kauai Island Utilities Cooperative chair.
A “Drive Electric Hawaii Initiative” has been unveiled by Blue Planet, KIUC, Hawaii Depart of Transportation and Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism, Hawaii Division of Consumer Advocacy, Hawaiian Electric Companies, Rocky Mountain Institute and Ulupono Initiative.
