Happy New Year!
Mahalo Sandi Kato-Klutke for the mochi (she even had small kagami mochi sets created this year) to welcome in the New Year, and mahalo to Yukie and Kevin DeSilva for that ahi that went to sashimi for New Year celebrating.
Mahalo to everyone for the support and help in 2017, and as the new year grows, the Japanese have a saying, “Tano mi masu,” which translates to “hoping and praying for your support, again.”
OK, we’re still on break from Kauai Interscholastic Federation sports until Saturday, when KIF wrestling joins the lineup of activities, including paddling, swimming, soccer, basketball, and, now, wrestling.
Kudos to Sarah Tochiki, Kevin Toma, and all of the Kauai All Island Band which took first place in the parade category at the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, California, between Christmas and New Year’s. All those practice sessions and public appearances must have paid off. Second place went to Lahainaluna High School of Maui, which won runnerup honors in the field show competition as well as the parade competition.
