Too bad the avenue where the motorcycles — yes, a lot of the motorcycle riders are veterans! — came rumbling in has been turned into a pedestrian walkway.
Kudos to the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery crew for making the facility welcoming and pristine for all the families and individuals who visit the cemetery to spend part, if not all, of their day with family!
Kudos to Kaleo Carvalho for representing Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami (no wonder the mayor calls him the “director of first impressions!). The mayor’s wreath was gorgeous, and the rendering of “Amazing Grace?” Beyond words!
Wayne Doliente found out Kaua‘i Bakery was closed (dang, I forget to check out Plan B) when he stopped off to get malasadas for the Sunset Swing Band. Who was going to do “Taps” at 3 p.m. following some short words from kahu at the All Saints Episcopal Church and Preschool in Kapa‘a?

The Kaua‘i Police Activities League starts flag football on Saturday at the fields outside Vidinha Stadium in Lihu‘e, and don’t forget the Silva wrestling tournament that happens on the westside.
