Kudos, Jonathan Chun, Gary Ueunten (got to visit with Glenna Ueunten too since she only does the Thursday Sunshine Market now), Alan Hiranaka, and all those Hui Alu hands. Scott Taba was doing the Okinawa soba, and Harvey Maeda was busy with the Okinawa pork (wow! sold out on two nights!), and even U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda came to help with the andagi — it’s an art to have them soft and edible throughout.

Kaleo Carvalho needed a stop sign while helping the basketball teams (even Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation volleyball official Wayne Doliente was helping in the food booth until the bon dances started) with parking, and Stephen Fujii (how old is that Texas ebony bonsai?) was wondering if his son visiting from California was getting enough food. State Rep. Nadine Nakamura had relatives visiting from off-island, too. Great job with the Okinawan Festival!
Kudos, Kathleen Langtad, Mary Lardizabal, and all those Cub Pack and Troop 168 folks for not forgetting why we have a long weekend. Adam Coyaso had off-island guests (nope, Mini Me was home with Kristine!), and kudos to the State Bar Association for bringing The Young Lawyers Division to the crowded Grove Farm Market in Puhi as part of Law Week.
OK, don’t forget. Pau Hana Market goes today starting at 3 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. There is no holiday for fresh, Kaua‘i-grown produce, or the affiliated value added goods (Mother’s Filipino Comfort Food is adding a farm products table).
