Has it been so long that I don’t recognize anyone in the Scorpacciata Neapolitan style pizza food truck? The music was familiar, though, and after digging, found Randy Kanekoa using a vintage Martin guitar to render Hi‘ilawe in the same Gabby Pahinui style, complete with the unpublished Gabby Pahinui tuning (at first, I thought it was recorded music coming from Scorpacciata) in the food court located between Pono Market and Larry’s Music.

That was the special Friday treat for being in Kapa‘a where Caleb Aero worked his spray can magic (gotta see Trysen Kaneshige do more of that) to bring life to one of Ken Kubota’s photographs on the walls of Pono Coffee &Bakery. Ken said to check with Jeni Kaohelauli‘i, but who would’ve known it was her day off…Jasmine Kaohelauli‘i had dad John bring her lunch, and down the street, Vicky Masuoka settled for a Burger King lunch because there was too much Kapa‘a Kreep (it used to be a Krawl), and if it was before 2 p.m., the Hot Dog at Pono Coffee &Bakery would’ve hit the spot.
Meanwhile, kudos to Kaua‘i Police Department Sgt. Darla Nonaka, Capt. Mark Ozaki, Coco Zickos, and Chief Todd Raybuck on the 94th Recruit graduation (how many graduations have we had since the COVID-19 impacted us?)…congratulations to Kaua‘i County Councilmember Felicia Cowden on Ian Ikaika’s earning a KPD shield, and kudos to Sheldon Espina on the great job with the entertainment!

Anyone else wondering about conflict of interest when Council member Cowden is voting for $$ for her son’s new job as police officer, while being the County Safety Official (previously held by the incarcerated Brun) ????
