KOKE‘E — The fishing season for rainbow trout at Pu‘u Lua Reservoir on Kaua‘i will begin Saturday, June 20.
To address COVID-19 concerns and accommodate social distancing, a lottery system will be used to control entry. Anglers will be able to access the reservoir for four-hour sessions scheduled between June 20 and July 11, on Saturdays and Sundays.
Application for the lottery will be online only through the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Aquatic Resources website. Applicants must fill out an online form and provide an email address for the session assignment. Notification of fishing session assignments will be via email only. Entrance to Pu‘u Lua Reservoir will require a lottery confirmation email, fishing license and photo identification.
The deadline for applications is Friday, June 12. Confirmation emails with fishing session assignments will be sent out on or before Wednesday, June 17.
