Larry was at the Kauai Community Market earlier when Marty Amaro and Beth Tokioka were having pre-sale tickets for the Kauai Community College 34th Annual American Culinary Federation Kauai Chapter Breakfast that’s coming up Feb. 16 from 7 to 11 a.m. Marty said they’ll be at the Saturday market for the next couple of weekends with tickets (tickets are also available at a lot of other locations, too — just look for the signs!) to “Kauai’s largest brunch.”
What? It’s still Chinese New Year (kudos to The Shops at Kukuiula — Wanda Shibata and her Chinese sisters went to Poipu special for the festivities), and Kukui Grove Center, and Tsunami Taiko for bringing out the Chinese lions), and Florence Toyofuku wasn’t going to stay at home. Instead, she found some Chinese New Year succulents at the market, and Candace Boxer of Ono Pops (are the Chinese five-spice ones still available?) was able to enjoy the lions in Poipu because “she wasn’t working.”
Okay, ‘nuff celebrating. It’s time to get back to work. We have that special girls soccer play-in game for the state tournament starting at 1 p.m. (the Honoka‘a High School Dragons don’t want to miss an extra day of school) at Hanapepe Stadium against Waimea (good opportunity to check out lunch on the Westside).
