Jacob Bukoski, right, said he doesn’t smile for pictures as he joins Cyrus Baltazar for a quick photo on the sidelines of the Kapaa High School football team during Kapaa’s game against Kamehameha-Hawaii Saturday at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue.

Joyce Nagata of the Kilauea Senior Center said her dad, Seichi Akagi, learned how to paint when he was 80 years old through the senior center. He did a variety of artwork before leaving us. Joyce put together some of those classic pieces in a unique Christmas tree that got some nibbles in the “auction” taking place at the Kilauea Senior Center table Saturday during the Kauai Senior Craft and Food Fair at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue. Kudos to the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation and Na Kupuna Council for continuing this long tradition that used to be called the Senior Extravaganza (how many of you remember those days?).
