Let’s save the TMT
I wish to echo the sentiments expressed by Jim Jung and Dawn Fraser Kawahara in regard to the TMT project. What a loss it will be for the Big Island and the scientists and students if this project does not go forward. I understand that 80% of the Hawaiian people are in favor of the TMT and a poll conducted by the Star Advertiser in Honolulu revealed that the majority of citizens of Hawaii also support it.
It will be tragic if a vocal minority succeeds in ruining this opportunity for exploration of our solar system from the most ideal location on Earth. Perhaps all the TMT supporters should voice their opinion in the media.

Our house is burning
This is not the time to spend billions of dollars, endless construction hours or polluting carbon to peer into endless space!
Our house is burning! Mauna Kea is sacred! The Hawaiian Host Culture kupuna declare it is so. We must defer to their ancient wisdom, to everyone’s sanity, to the ‘aina and to the urgent task at hand to curb our collective carbon consumption!
That’s where the $1.4 billion would certainly be better spent!

I agree Edie.. Let’s not allow a few 1 in 7 to stop what they are doing. You are right the majority of Hawaiians and citizens are for the project. What a shame. It’s always the vocal few that want to start problems an excuse to continually hold their hands out to our society
The majority of people in Hawaii supports the TMT. Period. Once again, the vocal minority are the ones exercising their voices.
If TMT is turned away because of these IDIOTS, it will be a sad, sad day for Hawaii and for HUMANITY.
If I double posted sorry but Mauna Kea served the ancient Hawaiians an now it is time to serve all of humanity. Stare into empty space. Galileo stared into empty space, then he made a telescope and look what happened.
I would encourage anyone with an opinion on the TMT to email the governor’s office and let him know there are lots of citizens who have an opinion but are not in the streets.

Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many (humanity) outweigh the needs of the few or the one. The few opposing the TMT should be ashamed of their behavior and their selfishness of not sharing the aina with everyone. Period.
As the movement by the PROTECTORS on Mauna Kea goes on, the agenda is becoming perfectly clear…. housing and self government!
I support the Prince Kuhio initiatives orginally created without blood quantum restrictions. Anything less than immediately putting Hawai’ian people back to Hawai’ian lands will be viewed as genocide and we will continue the resistance to bulldozing the homelands and erecting mass profiteering endeavours for foreign investors.
