Cynthia Ann Helm
Cynthia Ann Helm, 63, of Koloa, left us peacefully after a brief illness, on Jan. 18, 2019.
Born on Feb. 16, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, she had a smile for everyone she met and shared her unlimited love and aloha with all.
She was preceded in death by father Charles “Bud” Helm.
She is survived by loving husband Ron Coates, mother Nancy Golden, sisters Debra (Ernie) Blachowiak and Eve (Gretchen Livesey) Golden, niece Juli Blachowiak, stepchildren Thomas Coates and Amy Kacsh, step-grandchildren Gaia and Evan Coates and Tony and Alex Kacsh; step-great-grandchildren Flynn and Kova Coates, numerous step-siblings, step-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The world has lost one of its most wonderful souls. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A simple ceremony and celebration of life will be held at Poipu Beach Park on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 3 p.m. to sunset.
Dionis ‘Nicia’ Niniau Doronio Bernaldes McGihon
Dionis “Nicia” Niniau Doronio Bernaldes McGihon, 68, of Waimea Valley, passed away peacefully at Queen’s Medical Center on Dec. 20, 2018. Born on June 15, 1950 in Waimea, she was a retired school administrative assistant at Waimea High School and spent her retirement years joyfully serving as a regular pioneer with the Kekaha Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by father Dionicio Doronio and brothers Carlos Doronio, Agapito Doronio Sr. and Stanywick Yadao.
She is survived by husband James Bernaldes McGihon of Waimea, son Marcus “Kulani” (Ena) Bernaldes of Honolulu, daughters Jacqueline Bernaldes of Waimea, Jamie “Loke” McGihon of Nanakuli and Joycelyn (Marc) Cobb-Adams of Honolulu, mother Becky Niniau Kualu of Kekaha, hanai son John “Kawika” Wilson of Kapaa, eight grandchildren, brothers Daniel Doronio of Keaau and Reuben (Agnes) Doronio of Kekaha, sisters Amore Camara of Hanapepe, Nora (Cippy) Ragocos of Kekaha and Becky “Honey Bea”(Joseph) Noon of Kentucky, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center, with visitation at 9 a.m. and services to begin at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests aloha attire.
Teresa Annette Floreen (Bukoski) Morita
Teresa Annette Floreen (Bukoski) Morita, 62 of Koloa, passed away on Jan. 13, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center. She was born in Lihue on Jan. 22, 1956. She worked most recently as an office assistant with Workforce Development Division services in the American Job Center.
She was preceded in death by parents Antone Bukoski Jr. and Flora Lumacad Bukoski, and brothers Patrick Bukoski, Robert (Felicia) Bukoski and Wayne Paglinawan.
She is survived by ex-husband Wesley (Val) Morita, daughter Westy (Derek) Kessler, son Anthony (Joanie) Morita, brothers Ivan Navarro, Carl Paglinawan and Nolan Paglinawan, sister Darlene McHenry, grandchildren Tylenn, Selena, Krystah, Tiare and Skyler Morita and Aukai, Keegan and James Kessler, and numerous nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa, with visitation with the family from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place at St. Raphael Cemetery in Koloa at a later date.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Abraham Kuhaulua
Abraham Kuhaulua, 74, of Anahola, passed away on Jan. 19, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1944, in Lihue.
He was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Mary Kuhaulua Sr., brothers Robert, Benjamin, Abner, John and Mathan Kuhaulua, and sisters Emma Kuhaulua and Lynette Lanning.
He is survived by brother Kaleihoku (Sarah) Kuhaulua of Anahola, caregiver and friend Kalani Rapozo of Anahola, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at Anahola Beach Park, from 11 a.m., where services will be at 11:30 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.
