expanded website and easy-to-use online entry system located at
www.honolulumarathon.org.
Runners statewide and from around the world can
now enter the 2000 Honolulu Marathon and Mayor’s Walk with a personal computer
and a few clicks of their mouse.
The website starts off with detailed
information for runners—everything from entry particulars and race week
activities to course maps and rules of the road.
The new online entry
system uses custom processing software running on a secure server. After entry
applications are processed, entrants may search an online database to verify
their entry status and submit changes, if necessary.
The website also
functions as the official archive for the Honolulu Marathon including a
comprehensive history section with finisher photos, t-shirt designs, results,
and articles covering each race from 1973 through 1999. Also found are
complete statistics for all 27 champions, course records, and the 25 all-time
fastest times for male and female athletes. A photo gallery gives visitors a
feel for the the race from a variety of personal perspectives.
A new “Fun
& Games” section features a Honolulu Marathon trivia challenge, digital
postcards, and running cartoons. New “In Training for 2000” t-shirts are
available for entrants through an exclusive website offer.
Links to
sponsors, running affiliates, hotels, travel companies, and other Hawai`i
information round out the website giving runners everything they need to plan
and prepare for the 2000 Honolulu Marathon.
