Waimea High School is preparing for its ninth consecutive trip to the
state playoffs.
Days to game: 5
Opponent: OIA #1,
Kahuku
Season Record: Kahuku (10-1)
[Sunday, Coach Kobayashi was
at a media event in Honolulu for all the coaches with teams in the playoffs]
We just talked about the format of the games, and who’s playing who. I
talked with the Kahuku coach [Sivaki Livai] and congratulated him on his win
over Wai’anae. He congratulated me on our season.
I got back to the island
and went over Kahuku film on my own. The boys had the day off to go to church
or hang out or do what normal teenagers do. I’m trying to get tendencies
from the tape, see what Kahuku likes to do, so we can hit it hard in practice
Monday and Tuesday. We’ll ease up Wednesday.
We run out of the pro set,
with a flanker and a split end. Kahuku runs a base 4-3 defense, so we’re going
to try and stretch them out. We’ll add some wrinkles, though.
