Kaua’i High took all five official boys matches and four-of-five girls matches to overcome the Kapa’a Warriors at Kiahuna Tennis Club on Saturday.
Ed Roessler fell to Red Raiders Jordan Kukino 4-6, 3-6 in the first boys singles; Kareen Konishi beat Serina Roush 6-0, 6-0 in the first girls singles.
In second singles, Warrior Justin Nagai fell to Chris Colacino 4-6, 0-6. And on the girls side, Tiana Lum-Tucker topped Tasha Haraguchi 6-0, 6-2.
Raiders Chad Naganuma and Josh Myamoto teamed to beat Kyle Mahoney and Kia Tom 6-2, 7-6(7), 4-6 in the first doubles match; Rena Kido and Hokulani Jordan topped Ashley Tunac and Tiana Laranio 6-0, 6-2 in the girls first doubles.
Warriors Andrew Walpole and Tommy Yoshida fell to Ronald Hosaka and Ian White 6-4, 4-6, 4-6 in second doubles. And in the same category, Jenifer Kawaguchi and Kim Kido beat Ashley Valveija and Raysha Sadang 6-1, 6-2.
Cory Napoleon and Garrett Danner lost to Stephen Mclean and Kurt Teichman 3-6, 7-5, 3-6 in the boys third doubles. Warriors Nicollette Cuaresma and Jaclyn Filipe topped Shannon Bulloch and Jaymee Wakumoto 6-2, 7-5 in the girls third doubles.
In unofficial matches, Jon Anderson and Stephen Esoki fell to Michael Hiruhara and Bryce Hosaka 2-8; Tyler Carvalho and Ross Brandeburg topped Martin Antonio and Royce Hanada 8-2; Eric Newhouse and Kia Tom fell to Tyler Inouye and Eric Fujikawa 2-8; Jon Anderson and Kyle Mahoney beat Grant Teichman and James Odan 8-3; Stephen Esaki and Andrew Walpole fell to Dylan Peckenpaugh and Chris Colacino 8-5; Shawna Tamayose and Michelle Rousch beat Kellie Torigoe and Elise Miyamoto 8-2.
