The first annual Irons’ Brother’s Pine Trees Classic took place Sunday at Hanalei Bay, giving Hawaii’s keiki a chance to strut their stuff in front of world reknown surfers Andy and Bruce Irons, and a chance to compete with peers.

The event was free and open to all surfing kids 14 and under who were not ranked high in the NSSA or HSF.
Volcom and Billabong showered entrants with prizes and the kids all had a blast.
Storm Kam took top honors in the Boys 13-14 event. Kam was followed by Zach Gilbert, Byron Blanchard and Cody Iddings (in that order). J.D. Irons and Kainoa Kurabara tied for fifth to round out the top finishers in the event.
Camille Brady edged Kristen Steiner for the gold in the Girls 11-14. Mia Melamed came in third; Jackie Brady came in fourth; and Holly o’Flaherty and Shaye Donnelly rounded the top six.
It was Aaron Swanson in front of the pack for the Boys 11-12. He won over Nathan Rex, Spencer Regan, Chris Foster, Dylan Melamed and Robert Fain (placed in that order).
In Girls 10-under, Malia Manuel beat the best, taking first over Erika Steiner and third place Ivory Filtzer. Vanessa Martinez, Leila Hurst and Keane Pa placed in the top six for the division.
Noa Mau Espirito beat out Sean Arakawa in the Boys 9-10 division. Kyle Galtes came third; Kaipoi Pa finished fourth; Austin Rex and Luke Weaver rounded the top six.
Jacob Langridge ripped it for first place in the Boys 8-under division. Makoa Carreira took second; Sage Lane came in third; Christian Potter took fourth; Kalen Galtes took fifth; and Dorian Blanchard followed in sixth.
Alex Smith took control with a first place finish in the Expression Session. Kalanie Martin took second and Tyler Newton came third.
