Amy Awtrey
Amy Emiko Awtrey of Kapa’a died at home on June 20, 2002, at the age of 69.
Born in Waimea, Kaua’i on May 12, 1933, she was a retired school teacher in California and businesswoman on Kaua’i.
She is survived by two daughters Becky (Bill) Chappell of Kapa’a and Donna (Keith) Flavetta of California; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; eight brothers: Yukimitsu (Aiko) Munechika of Japan, Hisao (Sue) Munechika of Waimea, Noboru (Michie) Munechika of Puhi, Ken (Grace) Munechika of Honolulu, Joe (Judy) Munechika of Lihue, George (Beryl) Kitamura of Arizona, James Kitamura of Waimea, and Larry Kitamura of Honolulu; two sisters: Edith (Hisao) Iwami of Honolulu and Amelia Uyehara of California; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by services at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Kahuna Springs, 1750 Ahiahi Road, Kapa’a officiated by Pastor Ed Terui. Burial will be private.
The family suggests casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society or Kauai Hospice.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Thomas Ibia
Thomas James Ibia of Kapa’a, died June 30, 2002, at his home at the age of 41.
Born April 25, 1961, in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, he was a dockman with Smith’s Boats, bellman with Sheraton Coconut Beach, busman with Outrigger and Sheraton Kaua’i hotels; Ohana Helicopters and Flowers Forever.
Preceded in death by his dad: Henry Ibia, Sr., he is survived by his mother: Pauline Rabasa Ibia of Hanama’ulu; one sister: Wanda (Robert) Labuguen of Kapa’a; three brothers: Henry “Hank” (Doreen) Ibia, Jr., of Lihu’e, Robert (Mindi) Ibia of Kapa’a and Darryl “DD” (Anne) Ibia of Hanama’ulu; aunts and uncles, Tina (Joe) Brun, Johnny (Minako) Rabasa, Pete Rabasa of Maui, Raymond “Dukie” (Eleanor) Ibia of San Jose, Calif., Julian “Jr.” (Gloria) Ibia, Dorothy (Gilbert) Barretto, Irene (Bobby) Patigayon of Honolulu, and Mildred (Terri) Asuncion; nieces and nephews: Hank Kawika Ibia, Schyler Arakaki, Preston Ebinger, Raevyn-Simone Ibia, Kjandra-Sanoe Ibia, Kawika Lindsay Bandman, Chelsie Labuguen, Charisse Labuguen, and Chasa’re Labuguen, and Ashlyn Ibia.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 5, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation again is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa’a from 9 a.m. with Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Kealia.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
