Mary Lovell
Mary Sonya Lovell of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on June 23, 2002, at the age of 68.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on April 21, 1934, she was a Proprietor for Retail Sales.
She is survived by three nieces: Mary Tonya Young, Debbie (John) Hughes, Temla (Mike) Staum; 2 sisters: Barbara M. Villers, Eleanor Zoltay, 2 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 3, at Kalapaki Bay Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Where graveside services will be held. Casual attire is suggested.

Naoko Murata
Naoko Morihara Murata of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 19, 2002 at the age of 92.
Born in Hiroshima, Japan on Nov. 23, 1906, she was a retired Seamstress.
She is survived by two sons, Roy (Michiko) Murata of Kapa’a, Kaua’i and James (Edith) Murata of Gardena, CA; four daughters, Doris (Herbert) Yamaguchi of Pearl City, O’ahu, Betty (Tats) Takata of Waipahu, O’ahu, Amy Murata and June (Ernest) Kimura of Waipahu, O’ahu; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Masue McCord of Pearl City, O’ahu and Kazuyo Takata of Honolulu, O’ahu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Rev. B. Ross Cleeland
Rev. B. Ross Cleeland of Kalaheo, Kaua’i died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on June 29, 2002, at the age of 90.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Jan. 30, 1912, he was a retired minister from United Church of Christ, but preached in churches of all denominations throughout Kaua’i since his retirement in 1975. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia L.
He is survived by two sons, Byron “Hokulani” Cleeland of Kalaheo, Kauai and Gene (Camille) Cleeland of Mt. Vernon, WA; two grandchildren, Elise Roberson and Cameron Cleeland; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Shinako Nishio
Shinako Nishio of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at home on June 30, 2002, at the age of 84.
Born in Kealia, Kauai on March 16, 1918, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by husband, Tadao of Kapa’a; brother, Sueo (Beatrice) Furumoto of Kealia; two sisters, Momoyo Kasaoka of Honolulu, O’ahu and Sadao Fujiuchi of Kealia, Kaua’i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation has been scheduled at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, at the Kapa’a Hongwanji Mission; service officiated by Rev. Takata will begin at 2 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Phyliss Spair
Phyliss Spair died June 28, 2002, at the age of 63.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Martin of Oklahoma; brother Clifford Spair of California; nieces Lori Menezes and Belinda Stevens and grandchildren Angela, Fred, Nicole and Axel.
Services will be held at Kukuiula Harbor in Po’ipu on Wednesday, July 3, at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
