Louis Pontes Jr. of Kalaheo, Kauai, died at home on Nov. 21, 2002 at the age of 70.
Born in Eleele, Kauai on Dec. 24, 1931, he was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Baker Support at the Pacific Missile Range Facility.
He is survived by wife, Eleanor; son, Louis (Michi) Pontes III, of Kalaheo; six daughters, Diane (John) Silva of Lawai, Linda (Kevin) Kelekoma of Koloa, Brenda (John) Gebauer of Lihue, Sharlene (Paul) Barba of Kekaha, Lisa Pontes of Koloa and Karen (Kimo) Akita of Kalaheo; sister, Rose (Otto) Koerte of Kalaheo; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the St. Raphael Catholic Church in Koloa; mass officiated by Father Felix will begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Lihue Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
