KALAHEO — Marina Octavio has become the new owner of the snack shop at Kukuiolono Golf Course.
Ocatvio took over the lease of the shop from the Kukiolono Trust on Sept. 1 and is open for business, although Octavio plans to hold a grand opening celebration sometime in October.
“I look at this as a new adventure,” said Octavio.
The Kukiolono Trust leased the snack shop in Oct. of 2002.
Octavio will offer a variety of food items including hamburgers ($3.50), cheeseburgers ($4), chili and rice bowls ($3.50) as well as various local fare including loco moco ($4.50).
“The public does not realize that we are here,” Octavio said. “This is not just for golfers but for the public (specifically locals).
The snack shop will be open Monday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
“To be honest, there really isn’t that many places to go for breakfast right after church in this area,” Octavio said. “So I hope to get that breakfast crowd to come up here.”
The owner also said that local businesses that would like to hold meetings as well as groups that want to have small parties can make a reservation at the shop.
The snack shop is located at the Walter D. McBryde Building.
In September of 2002, the Kukiolono Trust renovated the shop.
The group put in new carpet, repainted the interior of the shop and installed new floors and counter tops in the kitchen.
Octavio is in the process of acquiring a liquor license.
Octavio will have a full staff at her disposal including Carlene Otlang, Willis Labanon, Makanani Ragragola, Sanoe Octavio-Callejo and mother Soly Fernandez and father “Baco” Fernandez.
