Residency in hotels higher than in 2002

According to statistics provided by the Hawaii stat Department of Tourism, Kaua‘i residency in the hotel market was at 83.86 percent for the month of July, 3.17 percent higher than at the same time in 2002.

The average daily room rate on the island in the hotel market was $164 for the month of July.

In 2002, the average daily room rate was $160.91.

The room revenue in July on Kaua‘i was $137.54, $7.70 higher than in July of 2002.

The state average in July in the hotel market was 80.86 percent occupancy, the average daily room rate was $153.99 and the room revenue for an available room was $124.52.

The state average in hotel room occupancy from January through July in 2003 was 74.54 percent while the average daily room rate in this time span was $154.01 with the room revenue per available room rate at $114.79.

On Kaua‘i, the percentage of occupancy from January to July was 71.76 percent while the average daily hotel room rate was $155.10 while the room revenue per available room was $111.29.

Room sales for the resort condominium market from January to July also showed improvements from 2002.

The percentage of occupancy jumped from 71.07 percent in 2002 to 72.60 in 2003 from January to July.

On Kaua‘i, the percentage of occupancy was 74.13 in the condominium market. The average daily room rate was $135.56 and the room revenue per available room was $100.49.

Total room sales in the Hawaii market jumped from 2002 to 2003 in January to July.

The percentage of occupancy in the state was 74.20 percent in 2003, 73.46 percent in 2002.

On Kaua‘i, the percentage of occupancy in the total market was 72.44 percent while the average daily room rate was $149.31 and the room revenue per available room rate was $108.16, up from $104.43 in 2002.

Food sales dropped in Hawaii from January to July of 2003. The average daily guest spent $26.55 on food in 2002, $26.22 in 2003.

Beverage sales jumped from $7.69 in 2002 to $7.85 in 2003 while the average food/cover was $19.69 in 2002 and then $19.94 in 2003.

On Kaua‘i, the average daily food bill per guest was $31 from January to July of 2003. The daily beverage sum spent was $11.93. The average food/cover in 2003 was $20.80.
