The big day for a swell guy

So today is the biggest day of my best friend, James Ellis’ life. Am I supposed to be as excited as he is or should I be just like him and have anxiety attacks every 10 minutes?
Today is the day that I really didn’t prepare for or think of even happening, but all I know is that it signifies what really happens to a great person.
Now 26, Ellis and I have been friends from the first time we met. Ironically, it was on the basketball court back in 1995, when I was just a high school freshman and he was a sophomore.
I could just tell from the start that this tall, lanky, haole (white) guy would become one of my good friends, just because he was one of the few people on our junior varsity basketball squad, along with Jesse Gerald (son of Kalapaki Beach Hut owners, Steve and Sharon) who took the time to get to know this thin, shy, and unassuming freshman.
If you ever heard of the phrase love at first sight, then it probably should go something like this for James and I: Best friends at first sight!
