The Malia, a 31-foot Wells yawl, is not just pretty, but a performer as well as she took overall honors at the inaugural Man‘o Series race Thursday hosted by the Nawiliwili Yacht Club at the Nawiliwili Harbor jetty wall.
A bunch of seven yachts congregated at the outside can for the 5:30 p.m. start with the Malihini and Kalewa pulling out early leads heading out to the Ninini Point lighthouse.
The Malihini continued to build its lead over the Kalewa and the Malia in third place, but when the final horn sounded, it was the Malia taking overall honors on a 52-minute, 17-second run, almost four minutes ahead of second place Malihini.
Malia also topped the Monohull category with the Malihini edging out Kalewa for top honors in the Multihull class.
