Boy, talk about one hectic weekend – the Pahio crew headed by Barbi Shinno took in the American Heartwalk before heading up to Kukui Grove where they were joined by Lynn McCrory at their booth for the 2004 Job Fair.
Boy, talk about one hectic weekend – the Pahio crew headed by Barbi Shinno took in the American Heartwalk before heading up to Kukui Grove where they were joined by Lynn McCrory at their booth for the 2004 Job Fair. But, they were not alone as the Kaua‘i Marriott crew also did double duty as did American Savings Bank’s Marsha Omalza, and a lot of other walkers. Hats off to Cathy Shanks of the American Heart Association, and all those East Kaua‘i Y’s Men who made the event so successful.
Congratulations to Kapa‘a High School cheer coach Candace States who had her girls (and a guy?) out in force to cheer on the walkers as well as welcome them back…now, if we could figure out how to get people to hear Candace and her sister Brianne do the national anthem. Wayne Mukai was thrilled, Tracy Hirano was busy getting the signs posted, and Bill Blackburn did a great job announcing the lucky number winners as well as any other announcements that needed to be done.
At the KCC booth, was nice to see Earl Nishiguchi (still contemplating a Nikon digicam?), and Mia Ako who was busy all week at the Tech Center.
Daniel Momohara was the advance crew for the PMRF booth, and KFD’s Dave Bukoski and KPD’s Dan Fort took their mind off the heat by comparing baseball/softball notes, Dan says he’s a better spectator – not! Meanwhile, hats off to JoAnn Hamamura (Kapa Kahi Quilts?) who pulled off their second successful Outdoor Quilt Festival out in Waimea – thanks for the heads-up, Aletha Kaohi – the trip to the West Kaua‘i Technology Center was better than expected when the recipient of a 1962-made quilt was on hand talking about the Hawaiian quilt to Liane Carter (she said she’s Alice Fix’s daughter) of Puhi.
