Sueko Yamasaki of Lihu‘e, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Jan. 18, 2005, at the age of 93.
Born in Lihu‘e on June 28, 1911, she was a business manager with Hale Pumehana Motel.
She is survived by son, Morton (Carolyn) Yamasaki of Lihu‘e; two daughters, Harriet Coyle of Lihu‘e and Linda (Duke) Chung of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Namiko Yoshida and Tsutayo Saito; numerous nieces and nephews. Private service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Bernice Elama Kanahele
Bernice Elama Kanahele of Kekaha, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 16, 2005, at the age of 49.
Born in Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau on Jan. 24, 1955, she was an outreach counselor with Kauai Community College.
She is survived by her mother, Virginia Nizo of Kekaha; brother, William A.K. (Kawehi) Nizo of Kekaha; sister, Virginia (Keoki) Keamoai of Hanapepe; two hanai sons, Keolamau Nizo and Thomas Nizo, both of Kaua‘i; three hanai daughters, Liana Nizo and Kimberly Nizo, both of Kekaha and Kelly Nizo of California; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 7 p.m., followed by cremation. Visitation also from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; service at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
