Sister Mara Gandia
Sister Mara Gandia, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Jan. 16, 2005, at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc, WI, at the age of 75.
The former Anna Gandia was born June 13, 1929, in Kilauea, daughter of the late Pastor and Mary Ah Siu Lum Gandia. Besides teaching on the mainland, Sr. Mara taught at Cathedral School, Honolulu and St. Theresa School in Kekaha. After retiring from active ministry, she performed various services at Holy Family Convent.
Survivors include: the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, two brothers, James (Maxine) and Joe (Mae); and two sisters, Mary Jane and Theresa (Gene) Shimamoto; sister-in-law Mary R. Gandia, and aunt, Lillian Kealoha. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on today, Jan. 20, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, WI

Tereza DeJesus “Daisy” Sabakahan of Kane‘ohe, died Jan. 17, 2005, at Aloha Nursing Home at the age of 90.
Born on Kaua‘i, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sister: Elizabeth Martin; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Services are Friday, Jan. 28, at Borthwick Mortuary in Honolulu. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and the service at 11:15 a.m. Burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Greenhaven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary.
