KOLOA – Fire crews responded to a report of a house fire late Thursday afternoon.
“The house was totally engulfed when we got there,” one of the fire captains overseeing firefighting operations said Thursday.
First calls for the blaze to an unoccupied house came in at 5:26 p.m., and when the fire crews arrived on the scene located directly across the Koloa Court House, the house had flames shooting out from its windows, the fire captain added.
Kaua‘i Police Department closed off Weliweli Road at the Koloa Road intersection as well as at the intersection to Waikomo Road.
The blaze was contained within an hour of the initial reports, and no injuries were reported.
Investigation into the cause of the blaze is continuing.
The house, one of several that have been vacated and fenced off, was occupied until early this year, but its tenants were moved out along with other tenants in homes located on the Weliweli Road tract with the property being fenced off.
